Indiana Pacers have no intentions of trading Myles Turner, requiring a quality starting center in return, despite growing interest from teams like the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline.
The Indiana Pacers have no plans to trade center Myles Turner, according to Marc Stein. The team would only consider a trade if they received a quality starting center in return.
"The Pacers' phones are undeniably ringing with interest in Myles Turner. That was inevitable with Turner just months away from unrestricted free agency now. Yet the prevailing leaguewide sense, one week out from the trade buzzer, is that the Pacers do not want to trade Turner," Stein reported on his Substack.
"There is a strong belief among some league personnel that Indiana would need to see proposals that return a starting-level center to even consider the notion," he added.
Earlier, Anthony F. Irwin of ClutchPoints reported that the Los Angeles Lakers are contemplating whether to offer both of their movable first-round picks for Turner. The Lakers have held extensive internal discussions about the 28-year-old big man.
While the Lakers have also explored other options, including Jonas Valanciunas and Nikola Vucevic, they found the asking prices too high.
As a result, they have shifted their focus to Turner, who is currently averaging 15.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season.
