Panathinaikos Basketball and Communication director, Dimitris Kontos, spoke after Game 4 in Turkey against Anadolu Efes, addressing the officiating toward the team and specifically toward Kendrick Nunn.
Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens Basketball and Communication director Dimitris Kontos criticized EuroLeague officiating following his team’s 85–82 loss to Anadolu Efes Istanbul in Game 4.
Kontos pointed to what he called inconsistent refereeing throughout the series, using EuroLeague MVP Kendrick Nunn as a prime example of questionable treatment by the officials.
"Some things are visible to everyone. I won’t go so far as to say logic is being violated in many Panathinaikos games, but overall, there are issues that go against the level of professionalism teams strive to maintain," Kontos told NovaSport via SDNA.

"There needs to be respect — for the teams, the game, the athletes, and the top players," he continued.
He added that speaking out against officiating is often avoided due to fear of financial penalties.
"It’s unacceptable that every week we have to be afraid to speak up for fear of being fined," he said.
"Just take Nunn, for example — we need to take a look at how he's being treated, how this is being taught as acceptable in officiating seminars. This kind of rough treatment can't continue. It’s a matter of respect. We shouldn’t hide behind words."
Kontos emphasized that Panathinaikos has never asked for favorable treatment but deserves more respect for its legacy.
"Everyone can see whether there is favoritism or not. Panathinaikos has never asked for favorable treatment. Panathinaikos is the most successful team in EuroLeague history — the titles speak for themselves — and it deserves respect."
"Otherwise, we risk becoming caricatures, and that’s not something we want. Everyone sees what’s happening and understands it," he concluded.
